Gavin Casalegno, one of the leading cast members of the romantic-comedy series, has been etched in people’s minds as having a thorny golden retriever personality. When asked about what fans could expect in the upcoming 2027 film, the 26-year-old said, “Oh, man. I think people are going to be surprised,” during an interview with PEOPLE, and continued, “And I’m excited to see people’s reaction to Jenny’s [Han], kind of, closing thoughts and statements. It’ll be good.”
When Jenny Han spoke about her vision
Last September, Jenny Han expressed that she always intended to wrap up the story with the movie. “I knew that’s what I wanted to do, and I knew that it was going to take a beat to put everything into place,” the creator said, before adding, “I feel like there [are] still some more things that the audience wants to see, and I wanted to deliver that to them in a bigger way than [just] wrapping up at the end of the season.” The filming of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty: The Movie’ was scheduled earlier this year, after the cast and crew announced it on September 17, 2025, during the Season 3 finale. During the shoot, many enthusiastic fans and bystanders shared clips of important plot points on social media, risking the leak of the film.
