Bhojpuri actor Pawan Singh is facing legal heat amidst the controversy regarding Haryanvi actress Anjali Raghav. This time a fraud case worth Rs 1.57 crore has been registered against him at Varanasi’s Cantt police station, following the orders of the Chief Judicial Magistrate.
Court directs Varanasi police to register FIR
According to a report by TOI city desk (Varanasi), police lodged an FIR against Pawan Singh and three others on Tuesday after a court order. The FIR alleges that the Bhojpuri star and his associates duped a local hotelier of over Rs 1.5 crore and threatened him when he demanded his money back.
The complainant, Vishal Singh, approached the court after his repeated attempts to recover the money reportedly failed. On August 19, the Chief Judicial Magistrate directed the police to register the case at the Cantt police station.
Complainant alleges fraud in film investment
Vishal Singh told authorities that in 2017, he was approached by people claiming to be film producers. They assured him that investing in Bhojpuri films would bring hefty profits and state subsidies.He was then introduced to Pawan Singh, who convinced him to invest a substantial amount in a film project. According to Vishal, he invested over Rs 1.5 crore after being promised 50% of the profits and a producer’s credit. Despite the film being completed and reportedly sold for crores of rupees, Vishal alleged that he never received any returns. When he tried to recover his money, he was allegedly threatened with death.
Police investigate multiple charges against accused
Vidush Saxena, Circle Officer of Cantonment, confirmed that the FIR has been registered under several sections of the Indian Penal Code. These include IPC 420 for cheating, IPC 406 for breach of trust, IPC 467 for forgery of valuable security, and IPC 468 for forgery for the purpose of cheating.Reportedly, the FIR names Prem Shankar Rai, Reema Rai, Pawan Singh, and Arvind Chaubey as accused. The police are currently investigating bank transactions, film funding agreements, and related documents. Statements from the accused are expected to be recorded soon.

Pawan Singh has been in the spotlight for controversial reasons these days. Recently, a video from a cultural program went viral, sparking widespread criticism.In the clip, Singh is seen placing his hand on the waist of Haryanvi actress Anjali Raghav while suggesting that “something is stuck.” Raghav, visibly uncomfortable, immediately replied that there was nothing, but Singh continued, making the actress uneasy and upsetting the audience.
The video sparked social media outrage
The video quickly circulated on social media, leading to widespread condemnation. Although Pawan Singh later issued an apology, the backlash continued. The matter even reached the Women’s Commission, highlighting the seriousness of the incident.
