‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ has now begun to slow down at the box office and near the end of its theatrical run and the same goes for ‘Thamma’. Both the movies have made their lowest number on day 22 which is second Tuesday., which is Rs 15 lakhs. It is less likely that the films will see any further rise from here on and they’ve clearly reached their saturation point. Meanwhile, ‘The Taj Story’ also made Rs 17 lakh only on its second Tuesday which was day 12. The second week total of the Harshvardhan Rane, Sonam Bajwa starrer ‘Ek Deewane…’ came to Rs 16.3 crore. On Friday, day 18, the film made Rs 70 lakhs. However, it saw unexpected growth on Saturday, day 19 due to holiday. It collected Rs 1.25 crore on Saturday. On Sunday, the film made Rs 1.5 crore and saw a dip on Monday, making Rs 50 lakhs. On Tuesday, it made Rs 15 lakhs. The total collection of the film as per Sacnilk is now Rs 75.6 crore.
Meanwhile, ‘Thamma’ which had also made only Rs 80 lakhs on Friday, saw a slight upward trajectory on Saturday and Sunday, thus making Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 1.65 crore on both days. On Monday, day 21, it minted even less than ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’, which is only s 35 lakhs. On day 22, after making Rs 15 lakhs, the total collection of ‘Thamma’ now stands at Rs 131.6 crore. There’s a possibility that the numbers may have been affected for all movies in general on Monday and Tuesday due to the car blast at red fort. The total collection of the Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna starrer is now Rs 131.40 crore. The combined Diwali total of around ₹200 crore nett combining the collection of both the movies, is underwhelming as per Box Office India, largely due to the underperformance of ‘Thamma’. While ‘Ek Deewana Ki Deewaniyat’ has punched above its weight, festive weekends are typically driven by the bigger release, and ‘Thamma’ couldn’t deliver on that front. Even so, this Diwali frame has fared better than Eid and Independence Day weeks, thanks to ‘Ek Deewana Ki Deewaniyat’ outperforming expectations.
