‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ box office collection day 7

'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' box office collection day 7: The Harshvardhan Rane film sees drop on first Monday after crossing Rs 40 crore, 'Thamma' nears Rs 100 crore

‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ may not have opened with the noise of a mega release, but it’s quietly proving its worth at the box office. The Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa starrer released alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s horror-comedy ‘Thamma’ this Diwali, a tough slot for any film to take on. Yet, despite the odds and a much smaller screen count, ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ has managed to carve out its own space. The film kicked off with a ₹9 crore opening, matching the first-day numbers of ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’. Over the next few days, it held reasonably well, collecting ₹7.75 crore on day two, ₹6 crore on day three, ₹5.5 crore on day four, ₹6.25 crore on day five, and ₹7 crore on day six. The first Monday saw a predictable dip with ₹3.35 crore, taking its total to ₹44.85 crore. In comparison, ‘Thamma’ has already crossed the ₹90 crore mark as it nears the end of its first week. But the gap is less daunting when you factor in the difference in scale, ‘Thamma’ had nearly three times the number of shows. Box Office India reported that both films are underperforming in the Mumbai circuit, yet the trade sentiment around ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ remains optimistic, especially considering its modest budget. With the festive period still lingering, some weekday hold is expected, though the lack of a typical Sunday jump suggests that the Diwali holiday effect has yet to settle fully. Still, the film’s run is being seen as a small but meaningful win for mid-sized cinema, thus this is a reminder that audiences continue to show up for engaging storytelling over star power alone.Post-pandemic, such success stories have been rare. Box Office India cites ‘12th Fail’ as one of the few mid-scale Hindi films to make a real impact, a film that thrived on multiplex audiences in urban centres. In that context, ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ feels like another positive sign and a proof that there’s still room for heart-led, modestly mounted films to find their footing amid the noise of big-budget spectacles.
