Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat becomes Harshvardhan’s biggest hit

Harshvardhan Rane’s ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ beats ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ to become his highest grossing film

Harshvardhan Rane is experiencing a remarkable resurgence in his acting career. Following the unexpected blockbuster re-release of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ in 2024, which raked in over Rs 42 crore, he made headlines again with his newest project, ‘Ek Deewane ki Deewaniyat.’ This film has now garnered Rs 44.94 crore, officially marking it as his highest-grossing film yet.

Harshvardhan Rane hit the theaters in 2016 with Sanam Teri Kasam but it wasn’t until 2024 that he met with success as the same film was re-released and minted more than double of its original collection. During its first run the film earned just Rs 9.1 crore but during its re-release thanks to the cult following it had developed on social media and OTT platforms the film added Rs 33.18 crore to its kitty, taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 42.28 crore. And thanks to the success of Sanam Teri Kasam, he was approached for another love story which was titled ‘Ek Deewane ki Deewaniyat directed by Milap Zaveri and had Sonam Bajwa paired opposite him. The film was released on the occasion of Diwali and despite clashing with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma, the film held on its own and by Monday night- it has become Harshvardhan’s biggest film till date. It has gone past Sanam Teri Kasam’s combined collection. EDKD opened to Rs 9 crore collection, on day 2 it witnessed a small dip to earn Rs 7.75 crore and on day 3 it dipped further to Rs 6 crore collection. But this is how usually Diwali releases function, they open big and see a dip as people get busy with festivities. On Friday opened slight lower than Thursday at it collected Rs 5.5 crore but on Saturday the film saw a good jump to earn Rs 6.25 crore and on Sunday it spiked to Rs 7 crore. On Monday as expected the film fell but a little over 50 % to collect Rs 3.35 crore. And with that the total collection of the film stands at Rs 44.94 crore and thereby becoming the biggest hit of Harshvardhan’s career. The journey for the film is far from over as there is major release for the next week except re-release of SS Rajamouli and Prabhas’s Baahubali- The Epic. It would be interesting to see how EDKD performs from here on as on side it would have Thamma which also released on the same day and the re-release of Baahubali.
