Dulquer Salmaan reveals the only Indian film in his top 5 and it stars Shah Rukh Khan

With just days left for the release of his upcoming film Kaantha, Dulquer Salmaan has opened up about the movies that have stayed closest to his heart. In a recent conversation, the actor shared his top five favourite films — and interestingly, there’s only one Indian title on the list. It’s none other than Shah Rukh Khan’s evergreen romantic classic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ).

DDLJ finds a special place in Dulquer Salmaan’s heart

During his chat with The Hollywood Reporter India, Dulquer spoke about the films he loves revisiting. He mentioned Good Will Hunting first, followed by A Good Year. He admitted that the second one isn’t considered a great film by many, but it’s something he would love to experience in real life — especially the dreamy vineyard lifestyle portrayed in it.

Next on his list was Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, which he described as the one film he can watch any number of times, no matter what mood he’s in. Rounding off his list were the action classic Heat and the romantic drama About Time.Except for DDLJ, all the other films mentioned by Dulquer are from Hollywood — making his love for the SRK–Kajol starrer stand out even more.

Dulquer on being compared to Shah Rukh Khan

Dulquer has previously addressed how often he’s compared to Shah Rukh Khan. As reported by India Today, he spoke about it with humility, saying that comparing him to SRK feels like an “insult” because “there can only be one Shah Rukh.” His admiration for the global superstar goes beyond acting — he also appreciates the way SRK carries himself with grace, charisma, and warmth.

Why DDLJ continues to strike a chord

Released in 1995, Aditya Chopra’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge remains one of the most iconic romantic films in Indian cinema. Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol as the ultimate Bollywood pair, the film continues to captivate audiences with its emotional pull. From its unforgettable songs to its dreamy European locations, everything about it feels timeless. The film is currently available to stream on Netflix — and with Dulquer praising it once again, it’s bound to find a new wave of admirers.

Kaantha gears up for release

As Dulquer celebrates his love for cinema, he’s also preparing for the release of his much-awaited film Kaantha. The movie hits theatres on November 14, 2025, after being postponed from its original September release.Set in 1950s Madras, the film follows the journey of a rising superstar and his clashes with a powerful film producer. Dulquer plays the lead role, with Rana Daggubati co-producing the project. The cast also includes Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri Borse, while the film is directed by Selvamani Selvaraj. Go to Source
