Romance, humor, and heart
Directed by debutant Keerthiswaran, ‘Dude’ tells the story of Dude Agan (Pradeep Ranganathan), a carefree young man who gets caught in a complicated love triangle that forces him to confront his immaturity and emotional vulnerabilities. Mamitha Baiju’s performance as the female lead has been widely praised. The movie received good reviews from the audiences for it’s unique content and also the song ‘Oorum Blood’ had went viral even before the theatrical release of this Pradeep Ranganathan starrer. Altough ‘Dude’ was not upto the level of Pradeep’s films ‘Love Today’ and ‘Dragon’, it was said to be a perfect entertainer for the mass audiences. An excerpt from ETimes review for the movie reads, “Pradeep’s Agan might have been presented as a cool guy leading up to the film’s release. But luck isn’t in his favour as far as romantic relationships are concerned. Maybe, to make up for that, the film positions him as the saviour/good guy who goes out of his way to help others. While Pradeep walks away with the more sympathetic role, the writing makes Mamitha’s character Kural unintentionally cold-hearted and maybe even clueless.”
