‘Dirty feet’ backlash: Benny Blanco shrugs off hygiene rumors

Selena Gomez Drops Bombshell About Bipolar ‘Highs’ On Benny Blanco’s Podcast

Music producer Benny Blanco finally broke his silence about all those rumors swirling online about his hygiene, after a moment from his new podcast set the internet on fire. It all kicked off when people spotted Blanco barefoot and, with some pretty dirty feet, during the first episode of his podcast, ‘Friends Keep Secrets’.The whole thing blew up fast. Social media went wild, not just roasting Blanco for his feet but dragging Selena Gomez, his wife, into the mess. People started questioning her taste in men and everything. Blanco didn’t dodge the criticism, though. He jumped in himself, poking fun at the rumors and insisting things were blown way out of proportion.

What happened: All about the ‘dirty feet’ backlash

Back in February this year, Blanco launched ‘Friends Keep Secrets’ with Lil Dicky and Kristin Batalucco. During that first episode, he lounged barefoot on the couch, feet in full view of the camera. It didn’t take long for viewers to notice his feet looked, well, less than clean. The memes started flying in no time. Then, as if the internet needed more reasons to roast him, Blanco let out a fart right into the mic during the show, joking about whether the audio picked it up. That only made things worse. People online weren’t amused; rather, they called it gross, unprofessional, you name it. Soon enough, memes, jokes, and think pieces were everywhere. Some fans even started questioning Selena Gomez’s judgment for marrying him.

Benny Blanco comes ‘clean’

Eventually, Blanco had to weigh in. Per People, he shrugged off the whole thing, saying that everyone was making a big deal out of nothing. He even joked that the podcast studio floors were to blame for his grimy feet, not his own habits. After clips of his feet went viral, people started gossiping about his supposed body odor, too. And now, even Ed Sheeran jumped to his defense on the podcast, saying, “You look like you don’t smell good, but honestly, you’re the best-smelling person I know.” Benny just laughed and said, “I know! I smell good—even if I don’t shower.”Per E! News, both the musicians agreed that if anyone on the show should be catching heat for their smell, it’s Lil Dicky. Ed even sniffed Lil Dicky’s bellybutton and declared it smelled like a “bum hole,” begging for something to get rid of the stench. Benny just joked, “Mine smells like nothing.”Benny even doubled down: “It’s the facility’s fault, not mine.” He even flashed his foot for the camera, insisting, “Look at that. Clean foot!” He turned the whole debate into a running joke, proving he wasn’t taking it too seriously.

Selena Gomez is in the smelly business

The ‘Good For You’ songstress seems totally unfazed by the controversy. Right after the controversy exploded, per E! News, she posted an Instagram Story of the two of them kissing, writing, “I fall more and more in love with you every day my love.” Even better, she joined in on the joke during another podcast episode, kissing Benny’s foot on camera and laughing it off.Benny even called Selena an “independent woman” and admitted he tries hard not to act lovesick all the time. Talking about that silly foot kiss, he swooned, “It made my day!”Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco: Their love storyAs for Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez’s relationship, it has evolved through the years of their strong friendship into something more solid. The duo started dating in 2023, after years of making music together. Blanco had already produced a bunch of Gomez’s songs, so there was already a bond there.By December 2024, the couple was engaged. Fast forward less than a year, and they tied the knot in a private ceremony in Santa Barbara on September 27, 2025. Only their closest friends and a few familiar faces from the music world, including Selena’s bestie Taylor Swift, were in attendance. Go to Source
