‘Dies Irae’ BO: Film beats Mammootty’s ‘Bramayugam’

'Dies Irae' box office collections day 4: Pranav Mohanlal’s film beats Mammootty’s 'Bramayugam'; crosses Rs 20 crores mark

Haunting audiences and attracting thrill-seekers, Pranav Mohanlal’s latest venture, ‘Dies Irae’, has achieved remarkable success at the box office, earning Rs 20 crore in the first four days. Under the direction of Rahul Sadasivan, the film has eclipsed the opening weekend figures of his earlier hit, ‘Bramayugam’.

Pranav Mohanlal’s psychological horror thriller ‘Dies Irae’, directed by Rahul Sadasivan, continues to perform impressively at the box office. After a strong opening weekend, the film collected Rs 3.25 crore (early estimates) on Monday, taking its total India net collection to Rs 20 crore within just four days. The film has now surpassed the four-day total of Sadasivan’s earlier collaboration with Mammootty, Bramayugam, which had earned Rs 12.75 crore in the same duration.

Occupancy trends for the Pranav Mohanlal starrer

According to early reports from the Sacnilk website, ‘Dies Irae’ recorded an overall 33.29% Malayalam occupancy on Monday, November 3, 2025. The film maintained consistent footfalls across the day, with evening and night shows showing the highest turnouts — 36.10% and 47.65% respectively.

Rahul Sadasivan’s vision pays off again

Director Rahul Sadasivan, known for ‘Bhoothakaalam’ and ‘Bramayugam’, has once again proven his mastery with ‘Dies Irae’. Featuring Pranav Mohanlal in one of his most mature and restrained performances, Dies Irae also stars Arun Ajikumar, Jaya Kurup, Manohari Joy, and Gibin Gopinath in key roles.ETimes review for the film reads, “In a horror film, writing emotion may often feel forced, but here, it works beautifully. The apology, and the way Rohan grows out of his privileged mould to offer a hand, are two poignant moments. Later, the elements of shared delusion — often seen between co-dependent family members — and the signs of insanity make the film more of a horror story with psychological, mystery, and thriller aspects woven in. There are a few scenes that contain foreshadowing — the close shot of the buffalo and the eeriness that follows before the beginning of the final arc.”
