Government’s Response to the Incident
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his sympathy for the victims of the Metro construction accident, extending condolences to the bereaved family and prayers for the injured. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) released a statement expressing regret over the accident. It appealed to the public to avoid spreading false information and confirmed that a high-level inquiry has been launched. Officials stated that strict action would be taken against those responsible. Financial penalties have also been imposed, with a fine of Rs 5 crore on the contractor and Rs 1 crore on the general consultants. The investigation into the collapse is still underway.
