Dhurandhar Movie Review and Release Live Updates

The wait is finally over for the highly anticipated, action-packed drama ‘Dhurandhar,’ starring Ranveer Singh in the lead with an ensemble cast, which is all set to hit the big screens today, December 5. The movie has been in the news since the word go, and the excitement around the movie is hitting a fever pitch.

All about ‘Dhurandhar’ run-time and CBFC’s certificate

The reports stating that ‘Dhurandhar’ shows Ranveer Singh playing Major Mohit Sharma led to a legal feud. However, CBFC answered all such concerns by clearing the movie and stating that there was no connection with Major Mohit Sharma’s life, as the film is a work of fiction.

Coming to the runtime, according to the CBFC website, ‘Dhurandhar,’ which has been given ‘A’ certificate, is 214.1 minutes (3 hours, 34 minutes, 1 second) in length. This makes it Bollywood’s longest film in 17 years since Jodhaa Akbar (2008). Also, it is Ranveer Singh’s first A-rated movie.

The board also suggested a few changes in the move. Bollywood Hungama reported that CBFC asked for a Hindi voiceover in the disclaimer. Further, the makers have been asked to put anti-drug and smoking warnings.

If we talk about the cuts, several trims were suggested for violent sequences, which led to the removal of some intense scenes in the first half and toning down of a few in the second half. Reportedly, a scene has also been muted. Another alteration made included the change in the name of a minister’s character, and additional music and end-credit scenes.

The pre-release buzz

As aforementioned, the movie created a buzz right from the word go, and the same can be seen at the ticketing window. According to trade site Sacnilk, Ranveer Singh with block seats has come closer to Rs 14 crore. Early predictions state that the movie has the potential to push the Rs 20 crore mark on its opening day. If this prediction turns out to be true, then ‘Dhurandar’ will be Ranveer Singh’s biggest opening post-pandemic.

All about ‘Dhurandhar’

“After the hijacking of IC-814 in 1999 and the Parliament attack in 2001, India’s Intelligence Bureau Chief, Ajay Sanyal, devises a daring mission to dismantle a terrorist network in Pakistan by infiltrating Karachi’s underworld. Meanwhile, a 20-year-old boy from Punjab, held captive for a revenge crime, is identified by Sanyal,” reads the synopsis of ‘Dhurandar’ from the CBFC website.

Dhurandhar’s stellar cast

In addition to the powerhouse performer Ranveer Singh, ‘Dhurandhar’ features an array of seasoned actors including R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna and Arjun Rampal. Further, Sara Ali Khan plays the female lead opposite Singh in the drama.
