Dhruv Rathee SLAMS ‘Dhurandhar’; Ranvir calls him ‘FAKE’

Dhruv Rathee SLAMS ‘Dhurandhar’ trailer; admits he was ‘wrong’ about praising ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, Ranvir Shorey calls him ‘FAKE’

The trailer of Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film ‘Dhurandhar’ dropped amid significant buzz, as many fans were excited to finally see what the action thriller had to offer. However, while the visuals and scale impressed several viewers, YouTube creator Dhruv Rathee took a very different stand. Instead of praising the film, he openly criticised its violent content. His reaction soon turned into a major online debate, especially when actor Ranvir Shorey weighed in.What began as Rathee’s opinion on a film trailer quickly grew into a loud discussion about violence, censorship, old views, and how public figures clash in the digital age.

Creator questions film’s extreme violent scenes

Right after the trailer dropped, Rathee shared that he was disturbed by the brutal opening sequence. The very first scene shows a man being tortured with wires inserted through multiple holes in his skin. Rathee argued that such scenes normalise violence and send the wrong message. In an earlier post on X (formerly Twitter), Rathee wrote, “Aditya Dhar has truly crossed a limit of cheapness in Bollywood. The extreme violence, gore and torture shown in his latest film trailer is the equivalent of watching ISIS beheadings and calling it ‘entertainment.’” Rathee further said that the director was blinded by money and added, “This is the chance for the Censor Board to show if they have a bigger problem with people kissing or watching someone get skinned alive.”

Netizens recall Dhruv Rathee’s praise for ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’

Following Rathee’s remarks, users online highlighted that he had previously praised Anurag Kashyap’s cult classic ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, calling it one of the most important Indian films. As the old clip resurfaced, many questioned why the violence in that film did not bother him then.Rathee responded to this criticism by admitting his earlier view had changed. He replied, “I was wrong; back then I didn’t understand the impact such films have on society.”

Ranvir Shorey reacts to Dhruv Rathee’s comments

The argument gained even more attention when actor Ranvir Shorey stepped into the discussion. Replying directly to Rathee, he wrote, “Buddy, you’re wrong most of the time. But I love how you’ve turned that into a career.”Rathee then shot back by sharing a thumbnail image of Shorey’s stint from Bigg Boss OTT and adding, “Better than a career where you have to do fake fights on Bigg Boss for a livelihood.”Shorey replied again, saying, “The fights in the BB house are not half as fake as you, buddy. Lage raho.”

Ranvir Shorey vs Dhruv Rathee

Soon, fans started choosing sides. Many supported Shorey and told him to stop responding, but the actor explained that he felt the need to step in because Rathee was “sabotaging a film and filmmaker.” Others defended Rathee and suggested that Shorey was only trying to get attention by dragging the argument further.
