Deepika begins shooting for King with Shah Rukh Khan

Deepika Padukone loses Kalki 2898 AD sequel and Prabhas' Spirit but begins shooting for her 6th film with Shah Rukh Khan, King

Deepika Padukone may have stepped away from big-ticket projects like Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit with Prabhas and now the sequel of Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD, but she has also locked in another milestone. The actress has begun shooting for her sixth film with Shah Rukh Khan, titled King, after their last outing together in Jawan.

Deepika’s emotional note for SRK

On Instagram, Deepika shared a candid picture from the first day of shoot on King. The photo showed her holding SRK’s hand as she penned a heartfelt note, “The very first lesson he taught me almost 18 years ago while filming Om Shanti Om was that the experience of making a movie, and the people you make it with, matter far more than its success. I couldn’t agree more and have applied that learning to every decision I’ve made since. And that’s probably why we’re back making our 6th movie together? #king #day1”Her husband, Ranveer Singh, couldn’t resist jumping in with a comment, calling the duo “Bestest Besties!”

Why Deepika was always meant to be part of King

Reports suggest Shah Rukh was keen to have Deepika onboard from the very beginning. Initially, her dates didn’t align as she was taking time off to be with her newborn and also working on getting back in shape. But with King’s schedule pushed, the timelines finally matched and Deepika signed on. Crucially, the actress is not making a blink-and-miss appearance. Sources reveal that her role is a full-fledged one, putting to rest earlier speculation about a cameo.
