Accused arrested in assault case involving Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan's film's crew member - Report

A disturbing incident allegedly took place on the sets of Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s upcoming film ‘Pati, Patni Aur Woh 2’. A crew member of the movie was reportedly assaulted in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj by some local residents. This prompted an FIR, following which the police have arrested the main accused.Read on to know what happened.

Alleged assault on the sets of ‘Pati, Patni Aur Woh 2’

According to a PTI report, the incident took place on Thornhill Road, UP, on August 27, said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Abhijeet Kumar.Zoheb Solapurwala, the production head of BR Chopra Films, was allegedly attacked by some local residents. Following the same, on August 28, an FIR was lodged at Civil Lines Police Station. This FIR was filed after a complaint submitted by the same banner’s line producer, Saurabh Tiwari, police said.The report further claims that the main accused, identified as Meraj Ali, was arrested, police said.

AICWA demanded strict action

As the reports of the assault spread, the AICWA took to X to share their concern and demand strict action. Addressing the issue, they wrote, “During the shooting of the film Pati Patni Aur Woh 2 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, a shocking incident occurred in broad daylight where local goons attacked members of the film crew on set — right in front of everyone.” Further, after expressing their concern for the safety of everyone, in the end, they urged, “We appeal to Honourable Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji to take strict action and ensure such disgraceful incidents never happen again and restore confidence in Uttar Pradesh as a safe shooting destination.”
