Could new Avengers: Doomsday bring the ultimate MCU reunion?

Could new Avengers: Doomsday bring the ultimate MCU reunion? Fans have theories: 'Fate of the entire multiverse...'

Marvel fans are excited. Avengers: Doomsday may feature three teams. Sam Wilson’s Avengers and the New Avengers may clash. The original Avengers could return. Robert Downey Jr. may play Doctor Doom. Chris Evans might also appear. Joe and Anthony Russo will direct. The film releases on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars follows in 2027.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up for what could be its most epic ensemble yet. Rumors surrounding Avengers: Doomsday suggest multiple teams, high-stakes drama, and the possible return of the original Avengers, sending fans into a frenzy with theories and excitement for the December 2026 release.

Three teams, one multiverse mission

Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus suggests that the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday may see Earth’s mightiest heroes divided into three distinct teams, each with its own agenda. Sharing the scoop on X (formerly Twitter), he teased that tensions could flare between two main teams over the unresolved “mantle” issue—and then the original Avengers enter the fray. That’s right—the original Avengers might be back. Fans are now wondering if Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, and Hawkeye could make a return. Despite Natasha Romanoff’s sacrifice in Endgame and Tony Stark’s heroic exit, the multiverse concept allows for unexpected comebacks and surprise appearances.

Who’s leading the teams?

The upcoming Avengers installment could see three teams in action: Sam Wilson’s Avengers, led by Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, the New Avengers with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) at the helm, and potentially… the OG Avengers, or at least parts of the original lineup, returning to protect Earth.

New roles and surprise returns

In the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, Robert Downey Jr., confirmed for the film, will take on the surprising role of Doctor Doom. Meanwhile, speculation continues around Chris Evans potentially appearing in some capacity, though details of his involvement remain unconfirmed.Directed by MCU veterans Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most ambitious films yet. While plot details are still under wraps, fans can mark their calendars for its theatrical release on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027. Go to Source
