Cillian Murphy reveals the simple acting advice he wants son Aran Murphy to live by

Reflecting on his acting journey, Cillian Murphy imparted a timeless lesson to his son Aran as he ventures into the world of filmmaking: ‘Always hang up your costume.’ This simple yet profound advice underscores the importance of humility and teamwork in the theatre community. As Aran navigates his early career, Murphy’s words resonate as a guiding principle.

Cillian Murphy has shared the acting advice that has stayed with him from his earliest days on stage, and it is now the lesson he would pass on to his son, Aran Murphy, as the 18-year-old starts his screen career. While promoting ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man,’ Murphy said one simple line shaped how he sees the craft and everyone around it. For the actor, the advice goes beyond discipline. It is about respect, humility, and understanding that no performer works alone, no matter how central the role may seem on screen or on stage.

Cillian Murphy’s acting advice for son Aran Murphy

In an exclusive interview with E! News, Cillian Murphy looked back on a moment from his early acting years and explained why it still matters. “I did a play when I was very young, and I think I was rushing out to get to the pub, and I just dropped my costume on the ground,” he said. An older actor then told him, “Always, always hang up your costume.” Murphy explained that the point was bigger than tidiness. “And what he meant by that was not just hang up, but like you’re just the fella prancing around on stage there,” he said. “There’s a whole machine here, like technicians and stage management and front of house, and you’re just the act. You’re just one cog in this whole wheel. I’ve never forgotten that.”

‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’ cast talks new roles

Murphy’s co-star Tim Roth spoke about rejection in acting; he said, “No means there’s a yes coming.” He added, “Just keep going. Don’t worry about it, it’ll find you and knock you over.”Roth joined the ‘Peaky Blinders’ world as Beckett, a Nazi sympathizer who clashes with Tommy Shelby. He said he chose not to watch the original series before filming because “my character wouldn’t know those people anyway.” Barry Keoghan, however, came in as a longtime fan. “I’ve watched the show, and I was a massive fan of it,” he told E!.Keoghan also said he had wanted to work with Murphy again for years. He recalled texting him on Father’s Day, only to learn a role offer was already on the way. Rebecca Ferguson, who stars alongside him, joked, “It wasn’t really he knew he wanted you. You happened to text literally within a day that he was going to offer you the role.”’Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’ is in select theaters now and arrives on Netflix March 20. Go to Source
