'Chakda Xpress': Netizens demand release of Anushka Sharma's Jhulan Goswami biopic after India’s Women’s World Cup win

The Indian Women’s Cricket Team’s recent World Cup victory sent waves of jubilation through fans, leaving former captain Jhulan Goswami deeply moved. The Indian Women’s Cricket Team made the country proud as they lifted the ICC Women’s World Cup Trophy by defeating South Africa in the finals held in Navi Mumbai. While videos of the epic victory surfaced online, one couldn’t miss the reaction of former Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami, who was struggling to hold back tears.

After the video went viral on the internet, netizens started asking about the Jhulan Goswami biopic titled ‘Chakda Xpress’. Starring Anushka Sharma in the lead, the film, directed by Prosit Roy, was shelved later. The film was supposed to be released on Netflix.

Netizens are demanding that the streaming platform release the project. A person wrote, “Arre, someone tell Jay Shah (Chairman of the board of directors of the ICC) ki Jhulan Goswami Netflix film Chakda Xpress ko release karwaye. This is the perfect time, and it’s a very good film.”One individual added, “Finished shooting in 2022 but never saw the light of day.”An X post read, “A biopic on her life, starring Anushka Sharma, finished shooting in 2022 but never saw the light of day. It was not released after widespread outrage following the teaser, as viewers felt Anushka Sharma neither looked nor sounded anything like Jhulan.”

The film was backed by the streaming giant and Sharma’s production house, headed by her brother. However, the producers parted ways, and Anushka’s brother Karnesh now has the rights to the movie. For the unversed, this was the last film the actress worked on.
