Chahal says he has ‘moved on’ after divorce from Dhanashree

Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has opened up about life after his divorce from actor-dancer Dhanashree Verma, saying he has completely moved on from that phase. The separation, which was finalised in March last year, had drawn significant public scrutiny, but Chahal now insists he no longer wants to revisit or dwell on the past.

‘That chapter is over now’

In a recent interview with Mashable India, the leg-spinner spoke candidly about the emotional weight of the separation and his decision to move forward.“It was a chapter in my life, which is over now. I’ve left that space now. I don’t want to remain stuck there,” Chahal said.Emphasising that there is no bitterness between the two, he added, “I’m happy in my life, she’s happy in hers. What is one going to get by making someone miserable?”Chahal and Dhanashree’s divorce proceedings attracted widespread attention, particularly after reports surfaced claiming that the cricketer was asked to pay an alimony of Rs 4 crore. Following this, Chahal appeared to make subtle references to the amount on social media. He had once shared — and later deleted — an Instagram Story commenting on a Delhi High Court order related to alimony. On another occasion, he seemingly alluded to the issue during a light-hearted Instagram exchange with fellow cricketer Shikhar Dhawan.

‘Be your own sugar daddy’ T-shirt controversy

Chahal also found himself at the centre of a controversy when he was spotted wearing a “Be your own sugar daddy” T-shirt during court proceedings. The move sparked backlash online, with a section of social media users unfairly labelling Dhanashree Verma a “gold-digger.”While the cricketer did not directly address the backlash in the interview, his recent comments suggest he is keen to put the entire episode behind him. Clarifying where he stands emotionally today, Chahal said the closure came immediately after the legal process ended.“It was done and dusted right after stepping out of the court,” he asserted.
