‘Cancel him’: Orry trolled for using transphobic slur

‘Cancel him’: Orry faces massive backlash for using transphobic slur; Netizens call it ‘not funny’ and ‘embarrassing’

Orry Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, has found himself in hot water yet again. The internet personality, who is known for his tongue-in-cheek humour, is currently facing massive flak on social media following his recent video, where he used a transphobic slur. The post hasn’t gone down well with the netizens, and they are criticising Orry for the words he used, accusing him of being “insensitive” and “hypocritical.”

All about Orry’s controversial post with the transphobic slur

Orry recently attended a comedy show and shared a video from the set. In the video, two actors dressed as women engaged in a mock fight. Sharing the video of the same, Orry added a text, “POV: you attended a comedy show and 2 chakkas get into a quarrel behind you.” In the caption, he wrote – “But how can she slap .”The use of the derogatory Hindi slang ‘chakka,’ sparked a controversy. Outraged netizens said the video isn’t funny and Orry should be ashamed for using such language.

Netizens call out Orry

The video went viral in no time, attracting massive criticism from social media users. “This is EMBARRASSING, Orry! Using a slur that’s used daily to demean a community is LOW,” wrote a user. Another commented, “When you benefit from queer culture and then mock it — that’s hypocrisy at its peak.” In a long comment, an internet user shared, “This is a new low. I’m sure no one will care about this in 2 days and you will be back to your business, but I sincerely pray for your downfall. Your senseless rich bratty content was okay as long as it wasn’t offending anyone’s sentiments. Make all the fun you want staying in your own lane, but creating such dehumanising content in the name of humour was unnecessary. Really, what was the need for it? Could you not have just moved on with your day without posting this, knowing very well that it would mock and hurt someone? What’s even more disgusting and insulting is that you’re liking the comments, continuing to post stuff even after seeing all the outrage. Shows how less you care. This is shameful and sad. And look at all those celebrities still continuing to interact with him on his recent reels. Shows how no-one really cares. Really really sad”Several users pointed out the double standards in Orry’s approach to self-expression. “When you dress up like a woman, it’s called fashion. But when others do it, you use slurs. That’s not funny; that’s cruel,” wrote another commenter.
