‘Border 2’: Sunny Deol announces release date

'Border 2': Sunny Deol unveils fiery first poster on Independence Day; announces 22 January 2026 release: 'Hindustan ke liye ladenge....phir ek baar!'

On the occasion of India’s 79th Independence Day, Sunny Deol kept the spirit of patriotism high as he unveiled the first poster of his upcoming movie ‘Border 2’.

Poster and Release Date

Besides launching the new poster and paying due tribute to the country’s soldiers, he announced that the highly anticipated sequel to the 1997 classic will hit cinemas on 22 January 2026, coinciding with the extended Republic Day weekend.

The poster marks the return of Deol in his iconic role. The fiery new poster features the actor front and centre in his military avatar, firing a bazooka. Sharing the image, he wrote, “Hindustan ke liye ladenge….phir ek baar! #Border2 hits theatres on Jan 22, 2026 #HappyIndependenceDay!”

Border 2 Cast

Directed by Anurag Singh, ‘Border 2’ features an ensemble cast including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa.

On Film’s Republic Day Release

Producer Bhushan Kumar said in a statement, “Border is more than a film — it’s an emotion for every Indian. With Border 2, we aim to carry forward that legacy and bring it to a new generation. The new release date gives audiences more time to come together and experience the film in theatres during an extended Republic Day weekend.”Speaking to Deadline, director Anurag Singh called the Independence Day announcement “symbolic”, adding, “This day reminds us of the sacrifices made by our soldiers for India’s freedom and so does our film. It’s an honour and a privilege to honour their undying spirit through this story.”
