'Border 2' box office day 10 (LIVE): The Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty film sees growth on second weekend, has an edge over Rani Mukerji's 'Mardaani 3'

‘Border 2’ released in theatres on January 23 and the film is now in its third week. The film starring Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty has been doing well at the box office. It opened at Rs 30 crore on day 1 and significantly saw growth over the first weekend. Not to mention, it benefitted hugely from the Republic day holiday. It made Rs 54.5 crore on Sunday and then Rs 59 crore on Republic day. After a strong holiday period, the movie was expected to see a drop over the weekdays and that’s what happened. After making Rs 224.25 crore by the end of week 1, the film made Rs 10.75 crore on second Friday. On Saturday, day 9, it saw growth and made Rs 17.75 crore and on Sunday so far till afternoon, it has made Rs 9.7 crore. The total collection of ‘Border’ according to Sacnilk, is now Rs 262.45 so far. While the film did see some growth on the second weekend, the numbers are not matching up to ‘Dhurandhar’ which made more in second week than its first week. Meanwhile, Rani Mukerji’s ‘Mardaani 3’ released this Friday but ‘Border 2’ had an edge over it. Though, the Rani Mukerji starrer did see growth on Saturday due to positive word of mouth and the same can be expected for Sunday as well. The film opened at Rs 4 crore amidst a strategy to reduce the film in limited screens. On Saturday, it made Rs 6.25 crore and on Sunday till afternoon, it has made Rs 2.66 crore. The total collection of the film is now Rs 12.91 crore.
