Bhagyashree reacts to viral Kashi lassi controversy

Bhagyashree reacts to viral Kashi lassi controversy and fake promotion accusations on social media: 'Kya aap the wahan par?'

Bhagyashree responded to backlash over a viral Kashi lassi video, calling claims of “fake” promotion baseless and clarifying she aimed to support local vendors. She defended the drink’s health benefits, questioned critics’ knowledge of the full context, and said promoting regional food carries no personal profit motive.

Bhagyashree has broken her silence on the criticism that followed her recent Kashi trip, where footage of her promoting lassi at a local shop had gone viral. After social media users dismissed the clip as a “fake” promotion, the actor posted another video to set the record straight, saying her only goal was to support local vendors and celebrate the city’s food traditions.

Bhagyashree recalls her early morning at the Gangaghats

Sharing the video, the actress wrote, “tuesdaytipswithb Lassi on a hot day. I had been up since 3 am to do the mangala aarti, then walking down the Gangaghats in the immense heat, this lassi was just the energy booster I needed. Sprinkled with dry fruits on top I enjoyed the crunch.”

Bhagyashree on the health benefits of curd-based drinks

The actor further shared her thoughts on the health benefits of curd-based drinks, pointing out that a sweetened lassi may not be advisable for everyone. She said, “Salted or sweet is a matter of choice and yes for those who are diabetic, indulgence of a sweetened lassi would not be the right choice. Curds is rich in calcium, protein, probiotics. The sugar/gud gives energy & water hydrates…. for me it was the perfect combination in the heat of 40°.”

Bhagyashree questions the “fake” promotion claims

Taking on the viral video head-on, Bhagyashree pushed back at those who had called the promotion fake without actually knowing the full story. She pointed out that the clip circulating online was cut short and missing key context. “And along with the outstanding taste it was also the love with which it was made. There is a clip of this video going around saying its fake promotion. Kya aap the wahan par? Kya kahin bhi uss fake clip ke dauran kisine, sunna, ya record kiya ki meine yeh kaha ki its is too sweet and that I will not have it? Kya aapke Ma ne kabhi garmi mein aapko lassi nahi pilai… fake toh aaddha video, aadhi knowledge ke saath upload karna hota hein.”

Bhagyashree defends her intent behind promoting local food

She further added that promoting regional food isn’t driven by any personal profit, but is simply a way of supporting small businesses and local vendors. “Local food ko promote karne se koi bhi paise nahi kamate. The only good is that local food, local vendors get support. It is a shame that idle minds have nothing nice to say even about the simplest of things. Kashi is a place of purity, how insignificant is your rant. #hydrate #benarasi #lassi #probiotics,” she wrote.

How did the controversy begin?

The dispute erupted after a brief clip from Bhagyashree’s Varanasi trip started making the rounds on social media. Some users alleged that she didn’t actually drink the lassi once filming for the promotional video wrapped up, suggesting she avoided it due to its sugar and fat content. Others pushed back, arguing that endorsing a local business doesn’t obligate a celebrity to change their own eating habits.
