Bahubali- The Epic becomes the fourth biggest re-release film in India

Prabhas’s ‘Bahubali- The Epic’ beats Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ to become the fourth biggest re-release film in India

Baahubali- The Epic, a re-imagined cut of the franchise, is dominating the re-release circuit. In just four days, it surpassed Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’s re-release earnings, raking in Rs 26 crore domestically. Globally, it achieved USD 5.07 million over its opening weekend, making it India’s highest-grossing re-release. The film is now aiming for the top re-release spot in India.

SS Rajamouli and Prabhas’s Baahubali franchise doesn’t have a habit of being second , sooner or later they do make their way to the top and same is the case with their latest version- Bahubali- The Epic. The re-imaged, re-cut version of both Baahubali films put together in a 3 hour 45 minute saga has taken the re-release circuit by storm. The film in just 4 days has become the 4th biggest re-release film in India beating Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.During its re-release Ayan Mukerji’s directorial venture had minted about Rs 25.4 crore and this was after the film was in theaters for a few weeks. But Bahubali- The Epic crossed that mark in just 4 days. The Prabhas and Rana Daggubati led film earned Rs 1.15 crore from its premiere shows, with its first collection coming to Rs 9.65 crore. On day 2 the film collected Rs 7.25 crore and on day 3 the collection reached Rs 6.3 crore. But on Monday the film witnessed a massive drop to collect just Rs 1.65 crore taking the overall collection to Rs 26 crore. And with that the film has gone past Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’s re-release collection to become the 4th biggest re-release film in India.Bahubali- The Epic minted USD 5.07 million ( Rs 45 crore) across the globe from its opening weekend- making it the highest grossing re-release film from India. But things in India are a bit different, it still has to jump three spots to claim the numero uno position, on the third spot is Thalapathy Vijay’s Gilli with Rs 26.5 crore, on second spot is Sohum Shah’s Tumbbad with Rs 30.48 crore and top spot is held by Harshvardhan Rane’s Sanam Teri Kasam which collected Rs 33.18 crore . The film also features Tamannaah Bhatia, Anushka Shetty, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj and Nassar in leading roles.
