Baahubali- The Epic’ inches towards Rs 3 crore mark in US markets

Prabhas’s 'Baahubali- The Epic' inches towards Rs 3 crore mark in advance booking in US markets

SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali-The Epic is all set to hit the theaters on October 31st. The film is a meticulously recut 3 hour 45 minute version of both the films put together. The excitement is palpable, especially across the US, where advanced ticket sales have already exceeded $330,000 for the opening weekend, cementing its status as the highest-grossing re-released Indian film.

When the history of Indian Cinema would be written, there would surely be one chapter on the impact of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali series. The film changed the grammar and the business of films and how it blurred the regional lines and created the term Pan-India films. SS Rajamouli has now re-cut the two films into one 3 hours 45 minute saga and it is also set for release on 31st October and the buzz for the film is already palpable. While the advance booking for the film has started to open in small numbers in India, the booking has opened in full scale in the US market where Baahubali 2- The Conclusion continues to be the biggest Indian hit with a collection of USD 22 million. With three days to the premiere of the film- the film has already minted USD 330,000( Rs 2.90 crore) for the opening weekend, of which about USD 243,000 is just from its premiere shows selling nearly Rs 12000 tickets . The film has already become the highest grossing re-released Indian film in the circuit and going by the trend one can expect the film to cross USD 1 million mark within the first week itself. Trade suggests that the franchise’s enduring popularity, and the excitement surrounding its large-scale storytelling along with the joy of watching the film as it was meant to be seen as one film are key factors driving these advance sales. Producer Shobu Yarlagadda mentioned to ETimes, that back in time also they had tried to re-edit the two films into one . He said , “ We actually tried something like this around 2018–19, it was just an edit. We combined both the films to see how it would look, but everyone got busy with different projects, and we dropped it.”Baahubali 2- The Conclusion continues to be the highest grossing Indian film in the North American market with USD 22 million collection and since that year no other film has even come close to that mark. And now with The Epic- it is all set to make new records for re-released films. The film stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Tamannaah Bhatia,Anushka Shetty, Ramya Krishnan and Sathyaraj
