‘Avengers’, ‘Spider-Man’ SKIP Super Bowl trailer; Fans react

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ break 16-yr tradition and SKIP Super Bowl LX trailer; Marvel fans call it 'MISSED OPPORTUNITY'

Marvel has seemingly ended its 16-year Super Bowl trailer streak by reportedly opting out of releasing ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ trailers during 2026’s series. Reports last week confirmed that Marvel Studio and Sony have decided to sit out the Super Bowl LX and not releas any trailer during the big game. This move has sparked widespread disappointment among fans, as it also marked the first time in 16 years that a major superhero film like the ‘Avengers’ or ‘Spider-Man’ will not debut footage during the NFL’s biggest night.

No ‘Spider-Man’ trailer

The move has surprised fans in particular because ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is scheduled to hit theatres in just five months and the trailer has already leaked online, not once, but twice over the past month. Super Bowl trailer debuts have historically played a key role in generating early momentum for Marvel releases, with past entries such as ‘Avengers: Endgame’ even breaking the record for the most views of a trailer in 24 hours.

No new ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ trailer

Meanwhile, the disappointment over ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ sitting out this one was expected as the makers released four clips in theatres between December 2025 and January 2026. The Russo Brothers even teased a ‘message’ in the clips, fuelling speculation that a trailer could be released during the Super Bowl weekend.

Fans react to ‘Avengers’ and ‘Spider-Man’ skipping Super Bowl trailer

Calling the decision a ‘missed opportunity’, fans took to their social media handles to say, “Can’t believe Doomsday is about to be the first Avengers movie in history without a Super Bowl teaser. Especially when not everyone is convinced it’ll be good – deciding to skip a trailer at the event with the largest crowd of your audience watching is such a missed opportunity.”Others expressed particular confusion over the lack of promotion for the next Spider-Man film saying, “I can somewhat get why Doomsday doesn’t have a trailer for Super Bowl… they at least gave us some promotion the past couple months,” another fan posted. “But SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY not having ANYTHING when the movie drops in 5 months is just… flat out weird.”Despite the reports, some fans remained hopeful saying, “I’m still convinced either the Spider-Man or Doomsday trailer will play during the Super Bowl,” one user wrote. “I really don’t think it won’t be both, but it definitely be one or the other.”
