Hollywood star Paul Rudd hit the headlines over the weekend after he auctioned off an exclusive ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ premiere experience during the annual Big Slick charity event in Kansas City.The actor had people bidding big for two tickets to the Los Angeles premiere of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, access to the film’s after-party, and the opportunity to attend the event as his guest. The proceeds from the auction will benefit Children’s Mercy Hospital.

According to reports from the event, the winning bidder is a longtime supporter of Big Slick who attends annually and regularly contributes to the charitable cause. Organisers reportedly described the USD 100,000 bid as the highest amount ever paid for a single auction item at their fundraiser. A video of the auction later circulated online with the caption, “Incredible amount of money raised for Children’s Mercy Hospital but this was WILD! $100K winning bid to attend Marvel’s Avengers Doomsday premier with Paul Rudd.”

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ trailer gears up for release

The charity auction comes amid growing excitement surrounding ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. Directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo sent fans into a frenzy over the weekend as they shared cryptic Doctor Doom inspired images, including a full look at the flag of Latveria. In Marvel Comics, Latveria is ruled by the iconic villain played by Robert Downey Jr, who is expected to play a central role in the upcoming film. Fans have suggested the teaser could be linked to the Russo Brothers’ appearances at SXSW London, where they are scheduled to participate in panels on June 2 and attend a screening of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. According to social media buzz, the highly anticipated trailer that first debuted at CinemaCon, could drop online during the SXSW London or even debut alongside ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, which is currently slated for release on July 31.

‘Avengers: Endgame’ to rerelease in cinemas

Meanwhile, Marvel fans can look forward to the theatrical return of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ on September 25. The re-release is expected to feature new footage designed to connect the events of Endgame with the storyline of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 18.
