'Avatar: Fire and Ash' runtime REVEALED; set to be longest film in sci-fi franchise

James Cameron’s upcoming ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ is still weeks away from its theatrical release, but the buzz around the film has only picked up with the film’s runtime officially revealed.

‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ to have longest runtime

According to the latest buzz, the film that is slated to hit the big screens in December, has set a new record with its runtime clocking in at 3 hours and 15 minutes (195 minutes). With this, the runtime, officially listed by AMC Theatres, makes it the longest film in the franchise’s history, surpassing even ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’. This sets the film up to be among the lengthiest blockbusters in modern Hollywood.

Cameron had previously hinted at the third instalment being “a bit longer” than ‘The Way of Water’, which ran for 3 hours and 12 minutes. The Oscar-winning filmmaker joked in a previous interview, adding that the upcoming sequel is “more intense, more emotional, and bigger in scale.”The first film, which released in 2009, also ran for 2 hours and 58 minutes and remains the highest-grossing film of all time. Its sequel, The Way of Water, became the third biggest grosser of all time.

Film’s plot and cast

‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ continues the saga with cast members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet returning to Pandora. They will be joined by Oona Chaplin, who joins the ensemble in a major new role as the villain – Varang. Unlike other Na’vi people, Varang does not follow Eywa. The film releases worldwide on December 19, setting the stage for two more sequels already planned for December 2029 and December 2031.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ trailer to be attached to film

According to viral rumours, the trailer of the highly anticipated ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will be attached with the film. Fans of the Marvel superhero film will likely get the see the first trailer release with the movie on December 19, exactly a year before it hits screens in 2026. Go to Source
