Tovino Thomas and Basil Joseph’s ‘Athiradi’ continued its steady box-office run despite facing stiff competition from Mohanlal’s blockbuster ‘Drishyam 3’. The youthful entertainer recorded a significant jump on its second Sunday.According to Sacnilk, ‘Athiradi’ collected Rs 1.68 crore net on Day 11. This marks a healthy 25.4 percent increase from the Rs 1.34 crore net earned on Day 10. The film was screened across 834 shows on Sunday and recorded improved occupancy figures throughout the day.
India Net collection crosses Rs 32 crore
‘Athiradi’ has taken its total India net collection to Rs 32.12 crore. The film’s India gross collection currently stands at Rs 37.26 crore.The film collected Rs 95 lakhs on Day 9 followed by Rs 1.34 crore on Day 10. Sunday’s Rs 1.68 crore haul completed a successful weekend and helped push the overall tally past the Rs 32 crore mark.
Occupancy improves across the day
‘Athiradi’ saw strong audience turnout on Day 11 which was during afternoon and evening shows. The Malayalam version recorded an overall occupancy of 42.68 percent.Morning shows registered 24.33 percent occupancy. The numbers improved significantly during the afternoon, reaching 45.67 percent. Evening shows emerged as the strongest segment of the day with 50.08 percent occupancy. Night shows also remained solid at 45.50 percent.
‘Athiradi’s overseas pushes worldwide total past Rs 61 crore
‘Athiradi’ has also benefited from a respectable overseas run. The film has grossed Rs 23.75 crore from international markets so far.Combined with its India gross collection of Rs 37.26 crore, the worldwide gross collection has now reached Rs 61.01 crore.The overseas contribution has helped strengthen the film’s overall box-office performance.Directed by Arun Anirudhan ‘Athiradi’ follows the story of Samkutty, an energetic student who revives a banned college festival and it triggers a fierce rivalry that turns celebrations into chaos.The film has received positive reviews for its entertaining narrative, humour and emotional moments.
