The Malayalam fantasy adventure ‘ARM’ (‘Ajayante Randam Moshanam’) added another prestigious win to its journey at the 72nd National Film Awards. The film secured the Best Female Playback Singer award, with Vaikom Vijayalakshmi being recognised for her rendition of ‘Angu Vaana Konilu’.The song was composed by Dhibu Ninan Thomas, while Manu Manjith penned the lyrics.

Vaikom Vijayalakshmi’s soulful rendition received praise from audiences following the film’s release. The song ‘Angu Vaana Konilu’ had also turned out to be a trending track even before the release of the Tovino Thomas starrer.

The winners of the 72nd National Film Awards were announced on Saturday, honouring excellence in feature films, non-feature films and writing on cinema. The awards recognised films that were certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) during the 2024 calendar year.South Indian cinema enjoyed a successful outing across several categories. ‘Feminichi Fathima’ was named Best Malayalam Film, while ‘Raayan’, directed by Dhanush, won the Best Tamil Film award.Another major highlight of the awards ceremony was Mammootty’s Best Actor win for his performance in ‘Bramayugam’.
