Finally the much-anticipated Silambarasan-Vetri Maaran collaboration, previously referred to as STR 49, has been officially been titled as ‘Arasan’.The film’s first look features Silambarasan in a blood-soaked shirt, holding a machete, standing beside a cycle, with his face partially hidden, consistent with the recently-released promo. Silambarasan shared the poster on social media with the caption:”ஆளப்பிறந்த அரசன் வெற்றியுடன் சிலம்பரசன் #VetriMaaran @SilambarasanTR_.” which translate to, “The king born to rule, Silambarasan, triumphs!.”

The film is currently in production and is set within the Vada Chennai universe, although Dhanush’s character Anbu will not appear in Arasan.
Story and cast info for ‘Arasan’
Director Vetri Maaran is reusing the screenplay he originally wrote for the 2018 Dhanush-starrer, which was initially intended for Silambarasan. ‘Arasan’ is expected to include notable Vada Chennai cast members, including Andrea reprising her role as Chandra, Samuthirakani, and Kishore, alongside newcomers Manikandan and Nelson Dilipkumar, though official confirmation is still awaited.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), the producer revealed plans for the film’s promo:“In line with the love and request of Simbu’s fans, releasing the promo of STR & Vetri Maaran simultaneously in theaters and on social media will be a great reward for your patience.
