Angelina Jolie is preparing for her upcoming civil trial with Brad Pitt over the disputed sale of Château Miraval following a recent court ruling that favoured the actor. A California Superior Court granted Pitt’s motion to compel depositions from members of the business that acquired the winery, in a decision dated June 17.According to PEOPLE magazine, the ruling represents another development in the lengthy legal battle between the former spouses over the wine estate, which has become one of Hollywood’s most contentious property disputes. A lawyer for Jolie responded to the court decision by emphasising her client’s focus on the upcoming trial and her determination to resolve the matter.
Brad Pitt’s court victory regarding depositions
Pitt’s legal team successfully argued that executives from the company that purchased Château Miraval possessed direct knowledge of Jolie’s 2021 sale of her stake in the winery. The court ruled that these people were required to give depositions even though they are located outside the United States. In June 2025, Pitt had been trying to depose an executive at the acquiring firm, but court documents said the man had declined to turn over documents or appear for questioning under the guise that he was a resident of Switzerland. The newly issued ruling overrode these objections, determining that the depositions must take place in London by September 30.
