Amid Aish-Abhishek’s legal battle, YouTube removes AI videos

Amid Aishwarya Rai-Abhishek Bachchan's legal battle, YouTube removes hundreds of AI-generated Bollywood videos - Report

Just days after Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan reportedly filed a lawsuit over AI-generated content, YouTube has removed hundreds of videos featuring the Bollywood stars. The move comes after reports revealed that multiple channels were hosting videos similar to the ones the couple had challenged.

AI videos reportedly gathered millions of views

As reported by Reuters, these videos had accumulated around 16 million views before being removed. The Bachchans had requested a ban on creating AI videos that infringe on their rights and called for YouTube to review its AI training policies. Despite a court order last month to remove several links, similar AI-manipulated videos remained accessible.

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan raise concerns about AI training policies

The report further revealed, the celebrity couple highlighted problems with YouTube’s content and third-party AI training policies. They argue these rules allow users to share videos for training other AI models, increasing the risk of misleading content online. Their legal filings reportedly state, “Using such content to train AI models could amplify the proliferation of infringing material.”

YouTube confirms removal of popular AI channels

YouTube confirmed removing a channel called ‘AI-generated Bollywood love stories;, which had 259 videos and 16.5 million views. Another account, ‘AI Bollywood Ishq’, is no longer active. While YouTube says it removes manipulated and misleading content, AI-generated videos showing celebrities in intimate or suggestive situations were still online. The most popular deleted video featured an AI animation of Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai in a swimming pool, with 4.1 million views. Some videos similar to examples cited in Abhishek Bachchan’s lawsuit papers were still online, including clips showing AI versions of him kissing a film actress or Aishwarya sharing a meal with Salman Khan, which reportedly angered Abhishek Bachchan.

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan seek damages over AI misuse

The Bachchan couple is seeking USD 450,000 in damages from Google and other websites offering unauthorised merchandise with their images. Their legal action aims to stop the spread of AI-generated videos that misuse their likenesses and infringe upon their rights.
