Ameesha Patel says Dharmendra’s family needs ‘time to grieve and we need to give them that’

Bollywood’s legend, the iconic star, Dharmendra, breathed his last on November 24, at the age of 89. Along with the family, several Bollywood stars attended the last rites of the beloved actor. However, Aneesha Patel, who shares a deep bond with the Deols, couldn’t attend the funeral, as she is not in the country. In a recent media interaction, the actress said that the Deol family is currently in a very sensitive situation and requires privacy; thus, she is yet to reach out to them. She also recalled visiting Dharmendra earlier this month at the hospital, and said he was in a very critical condition.

The ‘Gadar’ actress mentioned that during these difficult times, the family needs privacy to process their loss. “I haven’t reached out to the family yet. They’re under immense emotional pressure. I don’t want to trouble them because they’ve enough visitors and callers, and it wouldn’t be fair. …They need their privacy to be able to grapple with the situation,” Ameesha told News18.She highlights that it’s not an easy situation for Dharmendra’s family members. The actress said, “They need the time to grieve, and we need to give them that. But once I reach Mumbai, the first thing I’m going to do is go and see them.”

Earlier this month, Dharmendra was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital, as he complained about breathlessness. Several stars visited the actor and stood by the family. Ameesha Patel also paid a visit to the actor, and recalling the same, she shared, “It was a very tense situation, and they needed to be left alone even at that time. He was in a very critical situation.” She added, “Whether it was Shah Rukh, Salman or me, we were there briefly for ten minutes just to hug Sunny. Dharmendra’s funeral

On November 24, 2025, an ambulance was seen at Dharmendra’s house, which took his mortal remains to the Pawan Hans cremation ground for last rites. As he was being cremated, his family was visibly emotional. Bollywood actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt and others paid their tributes during the last rites.
