All we know about the ‘Venom’ animated movie

New ‘Venom’ animated movie in the works with ‘Final Destination’ filmmakers: What we know so far

The world of ‘Venom’ is back, but this time, it’s all about animation. After a run of live-action films, the studio behind the movie wants to shake things up with a new animated film about the infamous, sharp-toothed antihero. The studio has brought in Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, the pair behind last year’s ‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’, to direct and produce, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie has received the green light, but there’s no release date, no finished script. However, what we do know is that the studio just opened a writers’ room, so ideas are flying, but the movie’s shape could change a lot before anything’s locked in.Why switch to animation now? Well, it opens up a whole new toolbox. With what Sony did with the ‘Spider-Verse’ movies, it’s clear that animation lets them go wild with comic-book visuals and crazy action that just isn’t possible in live-action. With ‘Venom’, a character who’s all about big transformations and wild effects, animation feels like the perfect sandbox.

Is Tom Hardy involved with the project?

Tom Hardy has been the face of Eddie Brock/Venom in the live-action movies, and reportedly, he’ll be involved with the animated film, too. He could voice Venom, produce, or just lend his name. If he shows up in any capacity, it’d help connect the old movies with this new chapter.

The ‘Venom’ franchise: Looking back

Before this animated reboot, ‘Venom’ was a live-action juggernaut in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. The first movie, ‘Venom’, hit in 2018, with Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, the down-on-his-luck journalist who becomes host to the unpredictable symbiote. The sequel, ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’, dropped in 2021. This time, Eddie and Venom squared off against Carnage, with Woody Harrelson playing the deranged villain. Andy Serkis directed, keeping the tone dark and a little goofy. The trilogy wrapped up with ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ in 2024, directed by Kelly Marcel. This one saw Eddie and Venom on the run from enemies both earthly and alien. Go to Source
