Akshay thanks Aamir for wedding with Twinkle

Akshay Kumar thanks Aamir Khan for wedding with Twinkle Khanna, reveals why their wedding was so sudden and they didn't invite anyone

Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna tied the knot in January 2021. They were dating for a while but did you know that in an indirect way, Aamir Khan played cupid in them getting married? While Akshay and Twinkle had opened up on it, a few years ago on ‘Koffee With Karan’, in a recent interview as well, Akshay has thanked Aamir for his marriage with Twinkle. The actress was almost having back-to-back flops and she had thought ‘Mela’ will be a hit for sure. That time when Akshay proposed to her, she jokingly said that she will marry him if ‘Mela’ is a flop. She was quite sure it will be a hit but it turned out otherwise. The ‘Khiladi’ actor was asked about it recently on ‘Aap Ki Adalat’. He was asked that he makes fun of his wife also and said that she had 12 movies only of which 11 were flops which is why she never visits any movie set. He said, “She herself told me she did 12 movies and only one clicked. Unko actually writer banna tha. She wanted to be a chartered accountant. She was a very intelligent child. She had no ‘shauk’ (hobby) about movies, but the situation so happened that she entered the industry.”

He further recalled, “When she was doing the movie ‘Mela’ with Aamir Khan, we were having an affair, we were going around. I told her, ‘Let’s get married,’ but she said, ‘If this ‘Mela’ movie doesn’t click, I will marry.’ She said ‘Mela’, starring Aamir Khan sahab and directed by Dharmesh Darshan, would definitely become a hit. It was luck for me, sorry Aamir Khan Sahab, aapki film nahin chali, lekin meri shaadi aapki wajah se ho gayi.” The actor also opened up on his secret wedding and why he didn’t invite anyone from the industry. He said, “No, we didn’t invite anybody, nor did I tell anybody. I was shooting at that time. By 6 pm, she also returned from her shooting, and we married on a friend’s terrace.” At that time, when Twinkle called Aamir in the afternoon at 4 pm and told him he has to come to the wedding in the evening itself, he was shocked and thought he was day dreaming. When asked about it, Akshay said, “Kyon nahin ho sakti hai. Shaadiyan, affair jo hote hain, woh jaldi hi hote hain. Usko bolte hain, chat mangni, pat byaah.” Akshay and Twinkle had an intimate wedding with just about 50 people. Go to Source
