The ‘Bhooth Bangla’ actor revealed that his greatest takeaway from the first superstar of Indian cinema wasn’t how to achieve fame, but how to handle the inevitable decline that follows it.

At the India Today Conclave, Akshay Kumar expressed that he took many lessons from the life of his late father-in-law, superstar Rajesh Khanna. The actor said, “I have learned a lot from my father-in-law. What did I learn from him? I learned what not to do. That’s actually the truth.”Akshay further shared, “He honestly sat down with me and used to tell me about the mistakes he had made. He was the number one superstar; India has seen that.”The ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ actor also stated that as a child, he used to pass by Rajesh Khanna’s bungalow in Mumbai, Aashirwad, with his parents. Akshay recalled waiting outside to catch a glimpse of Rajesh Khanna at that time. The actor shared that he never imagined the superstar’s daughter, Twinkle Khanna, would become his wife one day.

The veteran superstar Rajesh Khanna passed away on July 18, 2012, at age 69. The actor took his last breath at his Mumbai residence, Aashirwad bungalow. He was reportedly suffering from cancer.
