Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna avoid political discussions: ‘We have a lot to talk about in life’

In a candid interview, Akshay Kumar shared that his nightly chats with Twinkle Khanna have transitioned from political debates to the simpler joys of everyday life—they haven’t discussed politics in over six years. The star also expressed an easygoing attitude towards paparazzi, considering their work as just another job.

Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna are a force to reckon with. The two have been one of Bollywood’s most beloved pairings. While attending the India Today Conclave 2026, Kumar opened up about his bond with his wife, Twinkle Khanna. The star was asked about what they often talk about daily, to which the actor revealed that their conversations revolve around everyday life.Admitting that they stopped discussing politics at the dinner table, the veteran actor added, “Current toh negative aur positive dono chahiye, tabhi toh batti jaleg’ (both negative and positive current are needed for a bulb to light up). But we stopped discussing politics around six years ago. We have a lot to talk about in life,” he said. He emphasised that the couple finds talking about their lives more important when they are at the dinner table, and that they have created a habit out of it. In another instance at the event, the star also opened up about how he does not have any problems with paparazzi clicking photos of him, along with his wife and children. Sharing that the photographers may get Rs 3500 to Rs 4000 for one photo that they click, then why should they have a problem with that? He further added, “It’s not a hazard. If they don’t take a photo, then it’s a problem. As an actor, if someone doesn’t recognise you, then it’s a problem.”

On the work front

Currently, on the work front, Akshay Kumar is awaiting the release of his latest horror comedy film, ‘Bhooth Bangla.’ The premise of the film is set around a mysterious house that is said to be haunted. This marks Kumar’s and director Priyadarshan’s collaboration after 14 years. Kumar is joined by Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jisshu Sengupta, Resad Ajim, Manoj Joshi, Mithila Palkar, and many others for the much-awaited film. ‘Bhoot Bangla’ will officially hit theatres on April 10.
