Akshay aimed at having Rs 100 crore fixed deposite, later Rs 2000 crore

Akshay Kumar aimed at having Rs 100 crore fixed deposit, then it was Rs 2000 crore, the actor reacts to being called money-minded: 'Lootke nahi kamaya'

Akshay Kumar is one of the richest actors in the country. Infact, he has been the highest tax payer at several instances. There’s this perception around Akshay that he is money-minded and is only concerned about money. In a recent interview, he reacts to being called ‘money-minded’ and why he finds nothing wrong in it. Akshay’s latest film ‘Jolly LLB’ has just released and he had appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show’s finale episode. During his interaction with Kapil, he revealed what was his aim in his younger days. Recalling that moment, he said, “I had read a news article long ago that Jeetendra sahab had made a fixed deposit (FD) of Rs 100 crore. I still remember, I ran to my father and asked, ‘Daddy, if someone makes an FD of Rs 100 crore, what would the interest be?’ At that time, the interest rate was 13%, which meant Rs 1.3 crore per month. I thought, ‘The day I manage to create an FD like that, I’ll feel financially secure.’ But humans are never satisfied. That number kept increasing for me — from Rs 100 crore to Rs 1,000 crore and then Rs 2,000 crore. The greed never ends.”As Kapil further probed him and asked how much fixed deposit he has now, Akshay said, “woh nahi bataunga” and laughed. Meanwhile, Akshay also had appeared on ‘Aap Ki Adalat’ and when he was asked by Rajat Sharma about being money minded, he said, “Agar paisa kamaya hai toh loot ke nahi kamaya. Maine kaam karke kamaya hai. 8 saal se I have been the highest taxpayer (I have earned money but not by stealing from someone. For the last 8 years I have been the highest taxpayer). Toh, it cannot be that I am money-minded or anything. Money is an important aspect in life, you have to be practical.”

He added further, “He further added, “Paisa kamata hoon, tax deta hoon, aur un paiso se kaafi seva karta hoon. Ye mera dharam hai. Baaki chahe kuch bhi kahe, main kuch vishwas nahi karta… agar aapko pheete katne se paisa milta hai toh kya problem hai? Woh paisa dene ko taiyaar hai? Jab tak aap kisi se chori nahi kar rahe, jab tak aap kisi ko loot nahi rahe ho, jab tak aap mehnat kar rahe hain tab tak koi problem nahi hai (I earn money, I pay tax, and I serve. That is my religion. Rest, many will say a lot of things I do not care. If someone wants to pay you for attending an event, then why not take it? What is the problem with that? Unless you are stealing from someone and earning it by sheer hard work, it is completely okay). I don’t care if they say money-minded…” Go to Source
