Akhil Sathyan and Nivin Pauly to team up after ‘Sarvam Maya’ for a romantic comedy

After the impressive reception of ‘Sarvam Maya’, director Akhil Sathyan is gearing up for a delightful reunion with the charismatic Nivin Pauly in an upcoming Bollywood-styled romantic comedy. With the comedic flair of Aju Varghese in the mix, the film promises to explore the quirks of love in the mid-thirties.

Akhil Sathyan’s latest directorial ‘Sarvam Maya’ starring Nivin Pauly is running successfully in the theatres. The film has crossed over Rs 125 crore at the worldwide box office collection, as per the makers. The director has now revealed that he has plans to reunite with Nivin Pauly for their next!

Akhil Sathyan to collaborate with Nivin Pauly

Yes, that’s right! Akhil Sathyan will be collaborating with Nivin Pauly for yet another movie. In a recent interview with The New Indian Express, Akhil Sathyan revealed that he has plans to collaborate with his ‘Sarvam Maya’ actors Nivin Pauly and Aju Varghese. The film would be a rom-com! “I’m hoping to work with Nivin again, along with Aju Varghese, Althaf Salim, and a prominent female actor. The idea is an urban romantic comedy about people in their mid-thirties, with the scale of Bollywood rom-coms like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. We’re jokingly calling it Yeh Jawaani Aluva Deewani now,” Akhil Sathyan said. The ‘Sarvam Maya’ director also revealed that he is also working on a detective thriller like ‘Sherlock Holmes’, but with a female lead. “I’m also trying to revive an earlier project, a female-led take on Sherlock Holmes.”

All about ‘Sarvam Maya’

‘Sarvam Maya’ is written and directed by Akhil Sathyan. The film features Nivin Pauly, Aju Varghese, and Riya Shibu in lead roles, and revolves around Prabhendu, a priest and an unconventional ghost.TOI has ranked the film 3.5, and the review reads, “Sarvam Maya is indulgent and lingering. This is not a film with layered meanings or profound storytelling. Its strength lies in its simplicity. The humour is organic and gentle, earning warm-hearted laughs from the audience. The evolution of the story is clear to see—the small moments that push the narrative forward, the subtle changes in the characters, and the careful handling of a subject that could easily have invited criticism. The film feels well thought out.”
