Aditi Rao Hydari: ‘Emotions are felt rather than spoken’

Aditi Rao Hydari on her silent film ‘Gandhi Talks’ with Vijay Sethupati and Arvind Swamy: 'Emotions are felt rather than spoken'

Aditi Rao Hydari’s silent film ‘Gandhi Talks’ marks a bold yet natural creative step. Co-starring Vijay Sethupathi and Arvind Swami, the film explores emotion through silence with A.R. Rahman’s music as its voice. Directed by Kishor Pandurang Belekar, the drama releases worldwide on January 30, 2026.

Aditi Rao Hydari’s upcoming film, ‘Gandhi Talks’, a silent one, isn’t a risky experiment but a natural part of her artistic journey. Over the years, she has worked with filmmakers as different as Mani Ratnam and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, adapting to their contrasting styles while staying true to her own craft. With every role, Hydari has evolved, impressed, and left a lasting mark on audiences.

Vijay Sethupathi’s co-stars share their experience

As reported by Mid-day, the cast of ‘Gandhi Talks’ opened up about their special experiences working on the silent film. Vijay Sethupathi shared, “Gandhi Talks challenged me to express emotion without words. It’s a rare film where silence becomes the strongest dialogue.” Adding to this, Arvind Swami reflected, “In a world drowning in noise, Gandhi Talks reminds us that silence can still shake a conscience. This is a film where words step aside and truth walks in quietly. Rahman’s genius music becomes its language.”

Aditi Rao Hydari on the power of silence
