Aamir wants films to stream on OTT post 6 months; Akshay REACTS

Akshay Kumar REACTS to Aamir Khan wanting to release films on streaming giants after six months: 'Producers happily take money from the OTT platform, but…'

Akshay Kumar has reacted to fellow actor Aamir Khan’s statement about wanting to stream films on OTT after a gap of six months. According to the current regulations, a gap of two months or eight weeks is needed between the OTT and theatrical release. As per Khan, a major portion of the audience don’t show up in theaters because of the same. However, Akshay has a different point of view.

Akshay Kumar has different views than Aamir Khan about releasing films on OTT

In an interview with ABP Live, Akshay Kumar shared that, according to him, a three-month gap is totally fine. He said, “Six months is too long because at the end of the day, the OTT platform is paying you for the digital rights.” Khiladi Kumar added that even the streaming services need to benefit from the deal.Kumar went on to share that both theaters and OTT platforms should be able to coexist, just like they did before the COVID pandemic.Akshay Kumar added, “When it comes to digital rights sales, producers happily take money from the OTT platform. But when we want to, we also conveniently say our films aren’t working because of OTT.”The actor-producer shared that the makers need to retrospect if they are making good films or not. He said, “We don’t consider that maybe we’re not making the right films.”

Akshay Kumar talks about luck

Akshay Kumar stated that 30 percent of hard work is needed for success; however, the other 70 percent is pure luck. He said, “When I enter a studio, I often see a better-looking struggler, a better dancer, and who does better action than me, but he hasn’t gotten a chance yet.”

Aamir Khan’s views on streaming movies on OTT

Aamir Khan, after the release of his film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, expressed that there should be at least a six-month gap before the film comes on OTT after theatrical release. Hence, after the movie’s release in cinemas, the actor-producers decided to opt for the pay-per-view model instead of releasing it on OTT. Now, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is available to watch on YouTube, and one has to pay Rs 100 for viewing it. Go to Source
