‘Aabeer Gulaal’ to release in India on September 26

'Aabeer Gulaal': Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor starrer to release in India on September 26 - Report

Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor’s rom-com ‘Aabeer Gulaal’ hit cinemas worldwide today, on September 12, 2025. The film had been delayed for a long time in India. Now, as per the latest reports, it will be released in Indian theatres on September 26, 2025.

Why was ‘Aabeer Gulaal’ not released in India?

‘Aabeer Gulaal’ marks Fawad Khan’s comeback to Bollywood. But his return faced problems when the film was boycotted in India after the deadly Pahalgam terrorist attack. The incident, followed by India’s Operation Sindoor, caused tensions and led to the film’s release in India being stopped. This resulted in the film, co-starring Vaani Kapoor, to be released worldwide on September 12, but not in India. This was similar to Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Sardaar Ji 3’, which released overseas featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir.

Makers express confidence about the Indian audience

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, “The team of Indian Stories Limited (UK) have now made the decision to release the film in cinemas in India two weeks from now, on September 26.”The report also cites, “They are confident of the product and feel that the film, which is a simple and sweet love story, has the potential to attract the audience everywhere, including India. Moreover, no other film is scheduled for a release on September 26 and hence, ‘Aabeer Gulaal’ will enjoy a solo release in the country.” The timing seems smart. With the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 cricket match on September 14, the makers probably felt encouraged to finally release the film in India.

What is ‘Aabeer Gulaal’ about?

‘Aabeer Gulaal’ is a romantic comedy about unexpected connections, second chances, and learning to make space for love. IMDb description states, “Two wounded souls, brought together by chance, find solace in each other’s company and gradually develop a profound connection that blossoms into love.”The official confirmation of the India release date is awaited.
