A man gatecrashed Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma's wedding in Italy, reveals security in charge: 'He arrived in a BMW'

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s wedding in 2017 remains a benchmark when it comes to celebrity weddings and years later, fans still gush over the videos and pictures of the couple from their big day. It was also one of the most tightly guarded celebrity affairs in recent memory. The couple exchanged vows in Tuscany, Italy, in an intimate ceremony attended by just about 40 close friends and family members. Despite the strict guest list, an unexpected intruder managed to slip through security, almost like something straight out of ‘3 Idiots’ where Aamir Khan gatecrashed a wedding. In a recent interview, Yaseen Khan, the founder of the security agency hired for the event, revealed how the breach happened.“A gatecrasher, dressed exactly like a maharaja, arrived in a BMW, accompanied by two bouncers in a Safari,” he said during a chat with Hindi Rush. “I wasn’t present at the gate. I was at the main floor where the wedding was taking place. My team was there. We know the gatecrashers by face. My supervisor had a doubt so he flagged it to the event management team.”However, the event staff, mostly young trainees, were convinced the man was a legitimate guest, largely because of his grand entry in a luxury car. As a result, he was allowed inside. “When I got my eyes on him, he would stay only in the corner. His security guards would click his picture with a celebrity, after which he’d retreat into the corner. If you’re a guest, you’d mingle with others at the wedding,” Khan explained.Suspicious of his behavior, Khan decided to dig deeper. The man claimed to be the nephew of a prominent invitee who couldn’t attend the Italy ceremony.“So, I went to Virat’s manager and asked him if that guest is invited. He told me no, he’s invited only for the Delhi wedding reception. So, I went back to the gatecrasher and told him only invited guests are allowed. He threw some attitude before making his way out,” Khan recalled.Khan also spoke about another challenging high-profile wedding, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s celebrations. After their Lake Como ceremony, the couple hosted a grand reception in Mumbai that drew massive crowds, including hundreds of media personnel and fans. Due to a coordination lapse with the event team, the crowd was mistakenly directed toward the wrong exit, creating chaos. “It became very tough. There were just 20 security guards. Because the pressure of public gets too overwhelming. They shoved me so hard that my hand turned numb. I later found out my shoulder had gotten dislocated,” said Khan.
