26/11 survivor says Dhurandhar’s bone chilling scene gave shivers

‘Brutal, inhuman and disgusting’: 26/11 survivor says Ranveer Singh starrer 'Dhurandhar’s red screen 'bone chilling scene' gave her 'shivers', director Aditya Dhar responds

Since its December 5 release, ‘Dhurandhar’ starring Ranveer Singh and others has dominated the box office, crossing ₹400 crore. The film revisits the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, moving survivor Rajita Bagga, who called a scene “bone-chilling.” Director Aditya Dhar thanked her, saying the film aims to ensure such darkness never returns.

Since its release on December 5, ‘Dhurandhar’ featuring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan and Arjun Rampal, has been unstoppable at the box office. The film plunges into one of the darkest chapters of modern India, recreating the terrifying events of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. In a haunting scene, the screen bleeds red as authentic transcripts of the terrorists’ conversations with their handlers appear, while their real voices echo chillingly in the background.

Survivor Rajita Bagga’s emotional reaction

An author and 26/11 survivor, Rajita Bagga, who was at the Taj Hotel with her husband Ajay Bagga during the attack, reacted strongly to the scene on social media. Calling it “bone-chilling,” she wrote that hearing the real voices of the handlers directing the terrorists was disturbing, revolting, and inhuman.

Her powerful post on X

Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, Bagga wrote, “We were fortunate to survive the heinous terrorist attack that night and were rescued alive after 14 hours. To see the scene recreated from the other side- the handlers celebrating at every bomb going off & every person killed – if that doesn’t fill us with rage and renewed commitment to national security, what else will? 17 years have passed but the memory of what happened and what could have happened to us just shook me to the core. Gut-wrenching and painful.”

Praising the makers of ‘Dhurandhar’

Bagga praised ‘Dhurandhar’ and added, “Huge credit to Dhurandhar and its makers.@AdityaDharFilms for ensuring that an entire new generation understands what truly happened on 26/11 in just those 2–3 minutes. That look of @RanveerOfficial will haunt an entire generation.”

Aditya Dhar’s heartfelt response

Director Aditya Dhar reacted to Bagga’s post and said, “Your words remind us why this story had to be told. That moment was shaped to reflect the brutal truth. If it leaves a mark, it is to ensure we remember, stand united, and never allow such darkness to return. Thank you for surviving, for speaking, and for strengthening our collective resolve.”
