Amid ongoing protests in Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and violent state crackdown, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has said that POJK is an integral part of India and protests are a natural consequence of decadeslong loot by the Pakistani regime.
“We have seen reports on protests in several areas of Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including brutalities by Pakistani forces on innocent civilians. We believe that it is a natural consequence of Pakistan’s oppressive approach and its systemic plundering of resources from these territories, which remain under its forcible and illegal occupation. Pakistan must be held accountable for its horrific human rights violations,” said the MEA in a statement.
At least nine people have been killed and hundreds have been injured in the violence in PoJK.
Pakistan has occupied parts of Jammu and Kashmir since 1947 after it invaded the erstwhile princely state shortly after the Independence.
This is a developing story.
