‘Where the hell are the rest?’: Boris Becker blasts rivals for failing to challenge Alcaraz and Sinner

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have taken full control of men’s tennis, sharing the last eight Grand Slam titles between them. Former tennis star Boris Becker has slammed players like Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, and Andrey Rublev for failing to challenge them.

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are currently ruling men’s tennis just like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic did in their time. The duo has won the last eight Grand Slam titles between them, showing that they are miles ahead of everyone else on the court right now.

Alcaraz and Sinner together reached the finals of the last three Grand Slams in France, England, and the United States. Alcaraz won the French Open and US Open, while Sinner beat the Spainiard to lift the Wimbledon title. Sinner had also won the first Grand Slam of the year at Australian Open.

Boris Becker urges other top players to raise level

Meanwhile, tennis legend Boris Becker believes that other players are not doing enough to close the gap with Alcaraz and Sinner. Becker, speaking on his podcast with former tennis star Andrea Petkovic, said players like Alexander Zverev, Jack Draper, Taylor Fritz, and others are falling short.

“It’s an incredible statistic with the eighth consecutive Grand Slam victory for either Alcaraz or Sinner. But where the hell are the rest? We’re talking about Alexander Zverev, Jack Draper, Taylor Fritz, Alex de Minaur, Casper Ruud, Holger Rune, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev,” Becker said.

“Something about the rest, that they’re content with the second or third role. ‘Quarter-finals are okay, semi-finals are okay’ No, it’s not okay if you want to become the best tennis player in the world,” he added.

Meanwhile, 38-year-old Serbian legend Novak Djokovic, who is the only active player remaining from the famous big three, is still giving tough fight to Alcaraz and Sinner. Even at this stage, he has managed to reach the semifinal stage of all four Grand Slams this year.

He beat Alcaraz in the Australian Open quarterfinal, but then lost to Sinner in the French Open and Wimbledon semifinals, and to Alcaraz again in the US Open semifinal. However, the lack of competition from other top players has prompted Becker to speak out.
