Neeraj Chopra fails in world title defence after early elimination World Athletics Championships 2025 final

Neeraj Chopra looked out of rhythm as he failed to defend his World Athletics Championships title after finishing eighth in the men’s javelin final in Tokyo.

Defending world champion Neeraj Chopra missed out on another World Athletics Championships medal as he was knocked out early in the 2025 men’s javelin throw final at the National Stadium in Tokyo on Thursday. The reigning Olympic champion from Pakistan, Arshad Nadeem, was also one of the first athletes to get eliminated in the 10th position.

The 27-year-old Neeraj finished eighth in the javelin final in the same stadium where he won the Olympic medals four years ago with a best throw of 84.03m.
