Manchester United’s sidelined star Antony on verge of making transfer deal with big La Liga club

Manchester United winger Antony is close to sealing a permanent move to a big Spanish club. The Brazilian has been sidelined from the first-team by United manager Ruben Amorim, who has been looking to sell him before the transfer window closes.

Antony’s career at Manchester United looks to be almost over. According to reports, La Liga club Real Betis have reached an agreement in principle with United to bring the Brazilian winger to Spain on a permanent basis.

The 25-year-old has been left out of United’s first-team plans by new boss Ruben Amorim, who made it clear that Antony does not fit in his plans at Old Trafford. Antony has been on the sidelines for months and United are now ready to sell him.

Antony ‘one step away’ from moving to Real Betis

According to The Telegraph, Betis are working on a deal that will start as a loan but later become permanent. Transfer expert Nicolo Schira also confirmed this on social media, saying that Antony is one step away from returning to Spain.

Antony is one step away to return to Real Betis from Manchester United. Last details about the formula of the deal, but the winger wants to re-join Betis,” Schira wrote on X.

For United, this deal would save them around £150,000 per week in salary that were being paid to Antony. Club manager Ruben Amorim will also be relieved, as he has been trying to offload several unwanted players over the past few months. They will look to seal the deal before the transfer window closes on September 1.

Antony had a strong loan spell at Betis last season. He joined the La Liga side in January 2025 and scored nine goals and gave five assists in 26 matches. Antony also helped the club reach the Europa Conference League final, where they lost to Chelsea.
