Manchester United are set to have a busy transfer Deadline Day as they have reportedly signed a deal to sell Antony to Real Betis but a new goalkeeper could join the club. More players are expected to leave.
Manchester United are having a strong end to the 2025 summer transfer window as they are set to complete multiple deals ahead of Deadline Day. The summer transfer window for Premier League clubs, including Man United and other major European leagues, will end on Monday (1 September) by 7 PM BST (11.30 PM IST).
United have already spent £200million in the transfer window on players like Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, but they are not yet done as goalkeeper Andre Onana has been relegated to the bench after two seasons of poor performances and the Red Devils are also trying to sell a few players to balance their books.
Antony, Hojlund to leave Man United
The biggest coup this morning was the Athletic reporting that United and Betis have agreed on a transfer deal which will see Antony leave Old Trafford for La Liga. Antony spent half of the last season at Betis and Man United are set to earn £21.6 million by his sale and the deal would also have a 50% sell-on clause.
Another deadweight, Rasmus Hojlund, is set to be shipped out to Napoli, who will be paying close to £5 million for a loan deal with an option to buy him for £38 million.
Midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, who is struggling to find minutes in the new season under manager Ruben Amorin, has asked for a loan move, but Man United reportedly don’t have any wish to leave out the 20-year-old England player.
Man Utd cancel Mainoo’s request, but Emi Martinez can join
Mainoo has made two requests to leave the club on loan, but United are set to decline his demands, the BBC said.
Meanwhile, to replace Onana, United have been engaged with Royal Antwerp for a long time to sign Senne Lammens, but there has been no real progress, it seems. This has led to a new interest in Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez.
Villa did not include Martinez in their matchday squad against Crystal Palace on Sunday. And as per Manchester Evening News, Martinez has agreed personal terms with United. He could join today.
