The Chelsea teenager was close to joining Manchester United as part of a deal for Alejandro Garnacho, but the things did not go as per plans, Fabrizio Romano has revealed.
A teenage Chelsea footballer came inches closer to joining Manchester United in the 2025 summer transfer window, but not only did he miss that chance, he also failed to secure moves to clubs like Fulham and Roma. These intriguing details have been revealed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has disclosed that Tyrique George could have become a Red Devils player in 2025.
The 19-year-old Tyrique George is a product of Chelsea’s academy, but given the situation at the London club, which is blessed with a huge number of attacking talents, the possibility of the teenager finding a lot of minutes under manager Enzo Maresca looks bleak.

As a result, Chelsea tried to sell Tyrique George before the deadline day, but nothing materialised in the end. Romano, on his YouTube channel, has revealed that George was at one time part of the deal Chelsea were offering to Manchester United for Alejandro Garnacho, but that didn’t work out.

He was also on the verge of joining Fulham after they agreed a £22 million move for the England winger, but that also collapsed on the final day of the transfer window.
“I can reveal to you that Tyrique George was at some point also an option to be included in the conversation between Chelsea and Man United for Alejandro Garnacho,” Romano said. “It was the end of June when Tyrique George was one of the names discussed between Man United and Chelsea.”

Reportedly, he was also on Italian Serie A side Roma’s radar, but even that didn’t work out for George, which means he will be facing some stiff competition at Chelsea for a place in the starting XI.
Besides new signings Garnacho and Jamie Gittens, Chelsea also have Pedro Neto, Estevao and Raheem Sterling, who can play on the wings.
